Suicide of Democracy

The fundamental idea behind democracy is the belief that whatever majority of people decide is right.

Its this belief that allows democratic leaders - be them representatives of people like in all democratic governments of today, or people themselves as in direct democracy of ancient greece or referendums of today - to change laws.

The whole question of what should be law is answered differently by different people but it always depend on what the person belief is right. A religious person would believe whatever his religion says is right, and if that person's religion has a set of laws then he would refer to that. Only muslims and jews can do that referring because no other religion has a set of laws.

If your religion don't comes with a set of laws then what other options do you have. You can be an anarchist believing that there should be no society-wide law and everybody should do whatever he feels like. I don't think anybody other than one in ten thousand would be crazy enough to actually believe that this is a viable way of living.

So, if your religion don't come with a set of laws and you are not crazy enough to believe in anarchy what are your options? Think deeply about it and tell me what you found. I cannot find anything other than democracy.

If you believe in ethics, do to others that you are ok with them doing to you, and you believe in it not because you believe on a higher authority than you that you think told you this - be it God or a philosopher or leader of your tribe/village - then you are going on whatever you yourself concluded is right i.e. you are an anarchist.

Democracy do suicide everytime there is voting and number of people that are voting is less than half the total number of eligible voters. The non-voters through their action show their disbelief in democracy and since democracy is based on belief that whatever majority say is right democracy kills itself.

So, either you believe that someone other than you is high enough to have authority to make law - be it God or a philosopher or a tribal/village leader - or you believe that whatever majority of people say is right and should go into law. That is as long as you are not an anarchist.

Democracy always, logically speaking, kill itself whenever less than half the eligible voters vote given that they are physically able to vote. Believing that there is an authority higher than you that can make laws for you will save you from this logical suicide as long as that entity don't contradict itself.

Having mandatory voting would not solve this. How would you make voting mandatory? through law (how else?). Who would make law? either representatives of people or people themselves as in direct democracy but always through decision of majority. Then when majority of those same people don't vote they have shown disbelief in democracy and therefore nullified the mandatory voting law. Not just that but all the laws made through democratic leaders become null and void by democracy's own logic.

You cannot kill the base on which you are standing without destroying yourself.

You have to move away from democracy and to belief on a higher authority. Beware though, the one you are going to believe has higher authority must be perfect and clean enough to never contradict himself otherwise you are again facing the same problem.

Only God fit to be that entity.

Now the only question that remains is do what you think came from God indeed came from God?
